The Baby Rescue program was founded to help reduce infant malnutrition, provide access to medical care for treatable illnesses and lower the child mortality rate within the community of Ouanaminthe, Haiti.
Baby Rescue follows the founding principles of Danita’s Children to rescue, love and care for orphans and impoverished children. Our program gives precious, yet frail lives the gift of hope by increasing their chance of survival and providing young mothers with the education to better care for their children.
In Haiti, over 100,000 children suffer from severe malnutrition. These children are at high risk of mortality, without life saving interventions made on their behalf. With acute malnutrition running ramped in Haiti, Danita’s Children created Baby Rescue as a program to take a stand against these preventable deaths and increase the chance of a child’s survival.
Our process includes the usage of Medika Mamba. Medika Mamba is a RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food) made of ground roasted peanuts, powdered milk, cooking oil, sugar, vitamins and minerals. This treatment is used to help our babies receive proper vitamins and nutrients to help them heal and grow.
With the opening of the Danita’s Children Medical Center, Baby Rescue has the opportunity to extend their reach and provide more care, treatment and education to Haitian communities.
