There are many ways we are making a difference in the lives of children. At Danita's Children, we desire to develop and maintain a an approach to rescuing and caring for orphaned children--that meets their needs spiritually, physically, academically and emotionally. Here's some of the ways we do this:
Orphanage | School | Feeding Program | Church | Medical Care
The Children's Medical Clinic
and the Hospital of Hope
a message from Danita
One of seven children die before their 5th birthday of malnutrition, dehydration and diarrhea. Disease runs rampant. Every day children die for the lack of a $2 prescription for a simple infection, or because poor sanitation allows bacteria to leech into the water supply. Or because of an endless list of health problems, so easily correctable, that go unchecked.

The medical needs in Haiti are enormous. We realize we cannot physically meet all of these needs, but we can tend to the needs of the orphans and children within our reach. When I walk the streets of our town of Ouanaminthe, it is a rare day that someone doesn't approach me about a physical need they'd like us to help them with. Though there is a small hospital in town, the demand for care far exceeds the capabilities; the lack of funding, training and supplies leaves Haitian children with little, no, or at best antiquated healthcare.
With medical care facilities and medical staff on our property, our vision is to meet the healthcare needs of children, not just at our compound but in our village and region in Haiti.
Over the last many years I have spent
countless weeks, even months sitting next to a child fighting for his
or her life. So many children in Haiti die unnecessarily and mostly from preventable illnesses. Basic
life-saving medications for typhoid, malaria and diarrhea are simply
out of reach for most Haitian children. Continually we missionaries must drive our children three and five hours away to get adequate
medical care for the children, and emergency care is often out of reach
altogether. But your generous support will soon be an answer to prayer
for many children in Ouanaminthe and the surrounding areas.
Our approach to meeting the need for medical care for children is being planned and executed in phases.
Phase I - The Children's Medical Clinic will be a three story 15,000 square foot facility that will provide for basic outpatient and medical assistance in a clinical setting. It will be much smaller on scale than the planned hospital but will quickly fill the gap and be a place where medical teams can work and provide care. It will not only provide free medical and dental care for the children, but will also provide housing for our doctors, medical teams, missionaries and visiting teams.
Phase II - The Children's Hospital of Hope will be a state-of-the-art, in-patient hospital with full-scale medical care for children. It will include many beds for in-patient care, an eye-care diagnostic and treatment area, full-scale surgical center, pharmacy, full dental care, diagnostics and imaging, emergency room and health education areas. Completion of the hospital will allow us to treat thousands of children from our region and throughout Haiti, meeting their health-care needs at no-charge to the Haitian people.
Building and construction in Haiti is not an
easy task. But in my private prayer time I always ask the Lord to
provide us with favor, just as he did the prophet Nehemiah. People
laughed at Nehemiah and many challenges were presented to him that
would have made any construction job seem impossible. But with God’s
direction and favor, he re-built the city walls of Jerusalem in just 52
days.
Our new medical care facilities will be a blessing in so many ways.
Thank you for partnering with me as we work to complete these very important projects.
With God, nothing is impossible!
Please join me on this journey!
