At Danita's Children, there is always Room for One More. Find out how some of our children came to us and how lives are changed "when love takes you in".

In November of 2005, missionaries Karris Hudson and Danita heard a knock at the compound gate around 11pm. They opened the window
and saw a U.N. tank parked in front of the house and several soldiers outside. When they asked what was going on, the soldiers said they had a 6-year-old boy with them who told them that he lived at the orphanage. All of Danita's children
were already sleeping, so she and Karris ran downstairs, rather confused. There they saw Thierry, a little boy who attended Hope for Haiti School. He had been found roaming the streets
late at night and the soldiers were trying to take him "home." Danita and Karris told the soldiers that they would keep him overnight.
The next
day, Danita and her staff discovered that Thierry had previously lived on the streets of
Port-Au-Prince (11 hours away). A police officer had picked him up, and
brought him back to live with him and his wife in Ouanaminthe.
But Thierry
felt unloved and rejected by his new stepmother. The marks on his body
confirmed his story that he was being beaten. Danita knew she had to act, and brought him into her family right away.
Thierry is a sweet young boy who
is very grateful for all that God has done for him. He is the first one
at the door to greet visitors and siblings and he brings joy to all of our hearts!
