At Danita's Children, there is always Room for One More. Find out how some of our children came to us and how lives are changed "when love takes you in".

In September of 2006, Rafaelis Elvariste came to live with us.
One night, as the children were going to sleep, the missionaries noticed that there was an extra child. The other boys in the orphanage brought him in
because he had no mother or father. He stayed overnight that night.
In the following days, Danita and her staff found out that he used to attend Hope for Haiti School, but when
his mother passed away, he was sent to live with his grandmother who lived a couple
of hours away.
His grandmother was extremely poor, so she was forced to move into a shelter with Rafaelis. The people at the shelter did not care for Rafaelis, and he was unhappy there, so the little boy took the few coins he had, got on a bus, and headed toward the orphanage.
He had open sores all over his body, and doctors soon confirmed that he was HIV positive. Immediately, we started him on medication. Today, Refaelis is a playful, energetic kid, and you'd never know the trials he's been through. It has been a blessing to all of us here to see the dramatic change in his countenance and personality in just a few months.
