At Danita's Children, there is always Room for One More. Find out how some of our children came to us and how lives are changed "when love takes you in".

In October of 2004, Tropical Storm Jeanne hit the coastal city of Gonaives, Haiti. The flooding and landslides that followed were too much to bear for the city. Over one thousand people died overnight, and countless children were orphaned.
When Danita was
notified of the incredible need, she and her team traveled to Gonaives
and signed papers by lamplight to adopt 26 of these newly orphaned children.
The
next day, Danita and the children traveled by bus for nine hours over makeshift roads and
creek beds to return to Ouanaminthe. Setting up beds and tables in the
church as a temporary dorm, the children soon began to adjust to their
new home.
Today, they live and thrive at the Hope for Haiti Children's Center because love took them in. Over 1/3 of the children in our family came to us as orphans from Gonaives, and they each have a story to tell. Their lives are a testament to God's grace, and the power of a simple act of love.
