Thaina's Story

Two of our girls, Daphne and Thaina, went with me to visit some homes in our village. One family we visited has eight children living in an 8 x 8 foot size home. The single mom does her best, but only one of the children can go to school.
After visiting this family, fifteen-year-old Thaina said “Every single day I remember my old life and am so so thankful I can live at the home at Danita’s Children. When I was just a small girl I had to work all day, washing dishes, cleaning the house, going to get water,hand-washing the clothes for my whole family; I didn’t even get to go to school.”
Thaina was rescued after the massive floods destroyed her family and village in 2004.
She understands suffering, but she also understands redemption. She knows that because of her sponsor and the supporters at Danita’s Children, she has been rescued and given a new life full of God-filled opportunities. She now has a place to sleep, three meals each day, the privilege of receiving an education, and a loving home.
At Danita’s Children we are not only rescuing children out of a life of suffering and poverty, but are raising up a generation of change-makers; children who are learning to give generously to those who are in the same situations in which they once lived—children who are an extension of the love and hope of Christ.
We believe that our supporters’ investments in our children will positively alter the course of many lives for generations to come. Thank you for making that possible and for continuing to bring hope to Haiti!
